As a research institution that accepts Federal Funding for its research, Rush is required by law to create and abide by policies overseeing the various aspects of its research programs.
Research conducted at Rush, or under the auspices of Rush, must comply not only with research-specific policies and procedures, but also with the policies and procedures of Rush University Medical Center, including HIPAA, data, clinical, laboratory, and occupational safety policies. Research-specific policies and procedures must be followed in conjunction with those of the medical center.
