Investigational Drug Services (IDS) is a division within Rush’s Pharmacy Department dedicated to the safe storage, handling and dispensing of investigational drugs and biologics. The IDS teams are comprised of Investigational Pharmacists who:
support the control and distribution of investigational drugs and clinical drug trials
work with the inpatient and outpatient pharmacies to facilitate the setup and maintenance of inpatient and outpatient clinical drug trials
may order, purchase (as applicable), prepare, store and/or dispense investigational drugs
If your clinical trial or study involves investigational drugs or biologics, the IDS team may play an active role in:
study feasibility/ activation (including budgeting for IDS services)
site IRB review of the study
regulatory operations related to the investigational drug including randomization, blinding, temperature regulation, drug receipt/storage logs and drug destruction/ return logs
site activation visits, interim monitoring visits, study close out, audits
At Rush, there are two separate IDS pharmacies, located in the RAB building (Rush Cancer Center IDS Pharmacy) and in the Pavilion building (Pavilion Building RUMC IDS Pharmacy). Both IDS pharmacies utilize Vestigo, a research application that interfaces with OnCore and Epic, to safely store and dispense study medications. Additional information regarding each IDS Pharmacy can be found in the folders below.
