Epic is Rush’s Electronic Health Record (EMR) system used to access, document, organize, store, and share patient health records electronically. EPIC interfaces with other systems and applications utilized by Rush University Medical Center (RUMC) to provide more effective and efficient clinical care, billing and revenue cycle management, and research participant tracking and engagement. Epic features specific capabilities such as MyChart that allow patients to engage with their own or family members’ health information. Epic offers research-specific capabilities that aid in the continuity of care and management of research participants and conduct of institutional research protocols.
